Typically, at first light, I like to post up along the upper east side of the harbor on the outside edge of the mangroves and just look for rolling tarpon. I’ve seen a few scattered but I believe we need some rain to bring more out of the canals and rivers. So, before it gets too hot, I’ve been exploring shorelines adjacent to the outside edges where the water temperature is still a bit cooler.    For the most part, I’m seeing more small snook than anything. Due to the lack of rain, they’ve been wary as the water is as clear as I’ve ever seen it for this time of year. As a result, I’ve been throwing small suspending plugs to get the necessary distance as once they feel your presence it gets tough. Ultimately, you’ll want to be off the water before 11:00 a.m.
