Ok, well it’s been a bit on the cool and windy side the last few days as we just had another front blow through. On a positive not, it’s given me a chance to think and work on an issue thats been giving me a few problems. That would be the eyes on my flies. Just a couple weeks ago I wrote about just how important I believe it is to put eyes on our flies. However, no matter how much glue or adhesive I seem to coat them with they keep coming off. Either from tossing them into the mangroves or a healthy redfish or snook, I keep losing them. So, I’m going to tie a few patterns in which lighter bead, brush, or lead style eyes that are actually tied on will make a difference. For sure, the bead or lead styles may not have the color options that I like but they will provide a subtle drop that can’t be underestimated. Moreover, this is a great time of year to throw shrimp and crab imitations and this type eye is perfect for these flies.
