Snook

As long as I can remember, snook have been one of my favorite gamefish. Maybe it’s because I like hanging out in the places they live, in and around mangrove structure surrounded by waterbirds, oyster bars and backcountry creeks. Snook also like small baits and will definitely eat a fly. Most days, it’s typical to find them around glass minnows. Small baitfish and streamer patterns are my favorite. In particular, for me, Puglisi peanut butter and baitfish patterns have worked well. Also, a fly will land softer than a plastic or plug and can be an effective tool for working mangrove root structure because you can make make repeated delivery to a pocket or particular spot quick and accurately. A quick backcast and your in the spot you want.
