For sure, it appears the breeze has started to pick up and the air and water temperature has definitely been cooler first thing in the morning. We’ve gone from slick calm humid mornings to beautiful cool mornings dealing with a bit of chop. As of today, we’re experiencing what i believe is our third actual front. However, they haven’t been the extreme fronts that we’ll see as winter gets closer but they have been just enough to change up our weather and make our fish more active. Too, working in the backcountry along the upper east side of Charlotte Harbor has allowed me to get out of the wind. Redfish, snook, and spotted sea trout have been cruising shorelines in the back country and I’ve been seeing juvenile tarpon in some of our deeper cuts adjacent to several canal systems. In order to work the mangrove shorelines effectively, I’ve been throwing flies with weed guards and bend back patterns. In addition, I’ve started tying smaller and more streamlined flies to help deal with the wind.
